BIO

Strange things happen when T. M. Simmons goes chasing after ghosts. And she'll discuss those events with anyone she can corner, plus write them down for readers far and wide to enjoy.

Simmons sold her first book two years from the time she started writing. After a decade and a dozen books in the romance genre, she now writes paranormal mysteries and dark paranormal fiction. Also, after prodding from friends, she began publishing volumes of true ghost stories, direct tales from the diaries she kept of her dealings with ghosts, spirits and even some nasty entities she encountered over the years. She even has a few short stories in her published repertoire so far.

The information on her romance career is on a different web site, url on the home page. Here, talk and tales are of darker, scarier things.

In the mood for comedy horror? The Dead Man mysteries include two intrepid ghost hunters who are actually based on Simmons and her Aunt Belle Brown, who led Simmons into the supernatural realm so many years ago. Dead Man Talking, Dead Man Haunt, Dead Man Hand, and the in-the-works Dead Man Ohio tell stories of ghosts of murder victims who relentlessly demand Alice and Twila expose the dastardly killers. Accompanying the two (mostly) brave ghost hunters are Trucker, a Rottweiler, Miss Molly, the Siamese, Granny and Alice's ex-husband, Jack, a homicide detective.

True Ghost Stories Diary Volume I through IV (so far, V in the works) chronicle Simmons' life as a paranormal investigator, sometimes accompanied by Aunt Belle, sometimes various others, as they prowl cemeteries after dark and haunted houses anytime. She's hunted in New Mexico; the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas; The Myrtles in St. Francisville, as well as Natchitoches and New Orleans, Louisiana; Jefferson, and other Texas towns; Ohio; Wisconsin; and numerous graveyards and haunted buildings all over the U.S. Her favorite trip (so far) was to Cimarron, New Mexico, where she and Aunt Belle spent two days and nights all alone in the historical and haunted St. James Hotel.

Grave Yarns is a collection of short horror stories, while To All a Good Night and Dragon's Dishonor are stand-along paranormal fiction short tales.

Her dark paranormal, Winter Prey, is another tale not to be read lightly … or with the lights off. Not if you're worried about an ancient windigo eating you! Silent Prey, also in-the-works, will have you snatching your loved ones tight.

Simmons actually lives in a haunted house in East Texas, which she shares with a variety of paranormal residents, a menagerie of pets, and her husband. She sometimes takes that husband along on a ghost hunt, to supposedly protect her from the bumps in the night. However, he's been known to spy a ghost or two and retreat rather than confront. She believes in disciplining her resident ghostly boarders, but visitors are forewarned to beware. Some overnight guests have left in the middle of the night; even some relatives refuse to accept her offer of a bed.

She's also the lead investigator in her group of paranormal investigators, Supernatural Researchers of Texas. They consist of men and women totally dedicated to respecting the paranormal, and who have a variety of sensitivities and gifts similar to the psychic abilities she and her Aunt Belle share. Besides studying and growing their gifts, the group handles problematic ghosts who can't be bothered to behave themselves for people who call on them for help. Can you say Ghostbusters? They've also encountered a few of what Simmons deems nasties, evil entities it takes courage and fortitude to defeat. So far, she and her group have proved successful, although sometimes it takes more than one encounter to win the battle against malevolent entities.

Above all, Simmons hopes you enjoy her tales, spooky, funny, or scary as each may be. She's always willing to chat with her readers and fans in email or on Facebook.

REVIEWS

  • “Dead Man Talking is an engaging mystery! T. M. Simmons has created a bright, caring heroine, as likely to end up in a humorous situation as a terrifying one. This is my favorite kind of reading--a pleasing blend of crime and convoluted relationships with a dash of comic relief and a hearty helping of "something extra," in this case, the supernatural.”

After reading Ghost Hunting Diary Volume I, I've just about decided that there is a lot more to these encounters than we realize.”
